Hi All,
Just found the new site. Well done Martyn, you’ve obviously got way too much time on your hands but the site looks great. Lots of space for Barry to say how far ahead of the fleet he is going to be this year – LOL. We are going to tie a bucket to Spratty’s keel this season to slow him down a little. Also, Pete, remember you’ve got an old slow boat -you are not supposed to beat the newer “faster” boats!!
Looking forward to the new season and hopefully the weather will warm up enough to allow me to antifoul the hull before launch.
Best wishes to all,
Will

Light airs met a fleet of 26 Sandhoppers for the 2012 National Championships, held this year at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club’s excellentThames Estuary location. The gentle breeze played its part on day one, race one, with Paul Spratt and son Bruce, in ‘Apollo,’ pulling out a bullet to start the series. Previous National ChampionPeter Thompson and his crew Paul Dell in ‘Pray’ collected a second and first place tolead the pack over night. Their boat was a competitor for Scrap Heap Challenge, having recently been salvaged, had there been stiffer breeze things would have beendifferent but it did show that when things are calm the cream really does floatto the top. As usual, in the Sandhopper fleet, the competition was as keenly fought further downthe fleet with the race officer Colin Goodman deciding to call it a day at two races, hoping for a fresher breeze for day two, there was much to discuss in the protest room and the Bar over night.
